Ballincollig Castle

Probably one of the least famous sights in county Cork. Dates from at least the fifteenth century and was occupied until about 17th century when it was significantly damaged.

It was repaired by its latest occupants in 1857. Area is accessible now only through farmland and although castle is visible from N25 south ring road, there is no easy path or a road to it. Driving here is not an option.

However if you are up for a hike, views are stunning from here and the ruins of the castle certainly tell a story.
