Cork City Gaol
Cork's City Gaol was opened in 1824 and was expanded and altered several times after that.
It housed men and women who fought for Irish independence and during the Irish Civil war of 1922/1923. In 1923, the prison was closed for good. Located about 2km from city centre in the western part of the city, it is accessible by walk, car or a tourist bus.
